Sediment Treatment

Introduction
The Mobile Sludge Enhancement Container (M-SEC) Program is a new approach to an age-old problem. Biosolids and industrial sludge have been a problem for decades. Recent times have called for a solution that will allow these materials to be reused in a beneficial manner. The M-SEC Program was designed for that purpose. It was developed with a goal of being able to reuse Biosolids and industrial sludge as a balanced fertilizer, clean fill, soil amendments, mine reclamation and/or other agricultural applications in lieu of disposal in landfills as a waste.

The M-SEC Process
The M-SEC Process is a Patent-Pending treatment system that utilizes a transportable or fixed container that can be mobilized to any site. Untreated Biosolids, food process waste, industrial sludge; river sediment or contaminated soil is vigorously mixed with a proprietary reagent mix within the self-contained unit. The thorough mixing of the reagents, whether extracted or left “fixed” within the matrix, provide essential, nutrient-rich properties to the untreated waste.

Description
The Mobile Sludge Enhancement Chamber (M-SEC) is a RCRA compliant containment unit that provides a combination of physical mixing with chemical reagents to destroy pathogens and organic compounds, as well as extract heavy metals. The M-SEC unit also contains optional thermal drying, NH3 scrubber and activated carbon vapor treatment systems.

User Benefits
CBA’s M-SEC Program was developed to address one of the most controversial topics facing the environmental industry… the rapid detoxification and beneficial reuse of industrial sludge and biosolids. The M-SEC program offers a cost sensitive, mobile technology that can solve the problems associated with some of the most contaminated industrial sludge materials and biosolids.

The Mobile Sludge Enhancement Container

Mobility
M-SEC units are carried and delivered by truck. Typical units are mounted to a “roll-off”
chassis, which enable them to be positioned onto a site quickly. The units can be placed on land or barged for river sediments. They are also easily transported by air.

Cost
Mobile units enable low cost treatment, especially for any size treatment plant or island
countries worldwide. Additionally, CBA offers the customer a business model that provides a pay back to reduce the customers’ cost.

Time
M-SEC units utilize several patented chemical processes and equipment to rapidly
transform waste into clean, beneficial use products without the long delay of land applications or off-site treatment.

M-SEC Applications

Biosolids
Class B Biosolids are quickly and easily transformed into Class A, EPA 503 approved materials right at the treatment facility. The Class B Biosolids can be further processed into a balanced USDA approved fertilizer such as a 10-10-10.

Industrial Sludge
Waste sludge from many different manufacturing industries, such as food and chemical, that is currently land filled or land applied, is quickly transformed into a balanced fertilizer that can be sold commercially.

River Sediment
Many ports and harbors around the world need to be dredged to allow for ship access. Most dredge sediments are contaminated with residual chemicals from past operations. The M-SEC process provides a solution for the rapid transformation of polluted sediment into clean; reusable organic rich soil amendments.

Contaminated Soil
Contaminated soil is present throughout the industrial world. The M-SEC process provides a mobile treatment systems that can be easily located within a small (footprint) area allowing for the quick treatment of contaminated soil (to allow for reuse onsite as clean fill.) Because the unit meets the RCRA definition for a “Hazardous Waste Storage Unit,” permitting is not an issue.
